Na nocojšnjih predizborih 7. Evropskega prvenstva v Slam poeziji sta strokovna žirija in glas publike določila 10 finalistk in finalistov, ki se bodo jutri zvečer, v soboto, 5. decembra 2020, potegovali za naziv evropske prvakinje oz. prvaka.
Na svojevrstnem pesniškem prvenstvu, največjem dogodku tega žanra na stari celini, ki poteka v organizaciji Mladinskega kulturnega centra Maribor in partnerjev, se je nocoj v dveh polfinalnih izborih z video nastopi predstavilo in pomerilo devetnajst slamovskih pesnic in pesnikov različnih generacij iz vse Evrope. Najboljši trije iz posameznega polfinalnega izbora in še štirje, ki so se na splošno uvrstili najvišje, so se uvrstili v osrednji večer prvenstva, na finale, ki bo jutri, v soboto, 5. decembra 2020, s pričetkom ob 20. uri.
Finalisti letošnjega 7. Evropskega prvenstva v slam poeziji so:

Polfinalna izbora si je čez spletni prenos v živo ogledalo 465 gledalcev iz Slovenije in tujine, ki so s svojimi odzivi in komentarji popestrili dogajanje ter s pomočjo spletnega glasovanja oddali 362 glasov, s katerimi so neposredno soodločali o uvrstitvi polfinalistov v finalno soočenje. Dvojezična in interaktivna dogodka sta povezovala Juš Milčinski in Mojca Frim. S kratkim pozdravnim nagovorom je nastopajoče ob tej priložnosti nagovorila tudi direktorica MKC Maribor Marja Guček.
Finalistke in finalisti se bodo jutri predstavili s popolnoma novimi nastopi, na podlagi katerih bodo sodniki - pesnica in izkušena slamerka iz Makedonije Elena Prendžova, pesnik in izvežban kulturni organizator Mario Tomić iz Avstrije, zvočni performer in eno prvih imen v evropskem slamu Jaan Malin iz Estonije ter domači vitez poezije in literarni kritik Denis Škofič – izbrali najboljšo peterico, ki se bo z dodatnim nastopom pomerila za naslov prvaka. Petino glasov pa bodo tudi tokrat prispevali gledalci, ki bodo ob spletnem prenosu lahko ocenjevali nastope.
Celotno tekmovalno dogajanje poteka pod budnim očesom nadzorne komisije prvenstva, ki jo sestavljata rapovski glasbenik ter slamer Mišel Ristov ter pesnica ter kritičarka Helena Zemljič.

Tonight’s semi-finals for the 7th European Poetry Slam Championship delivered a list of 10 finalists chosen by the judging panel and the public. Tomorrow evening, on Saturday, 5th of December, these contestants will compete for the title of the European poetry slam champion.
Tonight, the peculiar poetry championship, the biggest event of this genre in the old continent, organized by the Youth Cultural Centre (MKC) Maribor and partners, introduced 19 slam poets of different ages and nationalities from the entire Europe. They battled in two semi-finals via video performances, until the best three from individual semi-finals and four more who received the most votes in general qualified for the central evening of the championship on Saturday, 5 December: tomorrow’s finale, starting at 8 PM CET.

More than 460 viewers from Slovenia and abroad watched the two semi-finals via an online broadcast. Their comments and reactions kept the programme lively, and their 362 votes via an online voting system directly helped choose the finalists. The two bilingual and interactive events were moderated by Juš Milčinski and Mojca Frim. The event was opened by a short welcoming speech by the director of MKC Maribor, Marja Guček.
At tomorrow’s event, the finalists will perform completely new slam poems, and the best 5 of these performances will be chosen by the judges: poet and experienced slam poet Elena Prendžova from Macedonia, poet and skilled cultural organizer Mario Tomić from Austria, sound performer and one of the best-known slam poets in Europe Jaan Malin from Estonia, as well as the Slovenian poetry knight and literary critic Denis Škofič. The top five contestants will then give an additional performance in order to win the title of the champion. One fifth of the votes for the contestants will be calculated from the viewership votes via an online voting system during the online broadcast.
