Evropsko prvenstvo v slamovski poeziji 2020
4.–5. december 2020, Maribor
Prvo mesto je osvojila predstavnica Španije Olza Olzeta, drugo mesto Portugalec Lucerna do Moco in tretje mesto predstavnica Slovenije Eva Kokalj.

European Poetry Slam Championship 2020
4–5 December 2020, Maribor, Slovenia
The 2020 European Poetry Slam Championship brought together 19 poets from all over Europe to give the performance of their lifetime and compete for the title of European Slam Poetry Champion 2020.
Poets, eligible for participation, were chosen throughout 2018 and 2019 via national level championships. Unfortunately, the championship, due for Matera in 2019 and then Milan in March 2020, was first postponed and then cancelled because of a rising pandemics. Now, the champions have another opportunity to showcase their work to the whole world!
The championship, consisting of two semi-finals and one final evening, was broadcast live online. Our lovely moderators were Juš Milčinski from Iglu and Mojca Frim from Banda ferdamana.
In the semi-finals, the champions presented themselves with one song each, which they recorded in advance and then subtitled in English. Slovene viewers were able to discover the translation into Slovene in the form of nice booklets published on our website.
Yet, the evaluation of the performances by 4 selected judges and the audience (the 5th mark was the average of all online votes) took place live, as did the event itself. On Friday, we joined forces to select the three best performers from the semi-final group A, three from group B and four more, who ranked the highest in the overall standings. So we got 10 finalists for Saturday, the final night of the championship. But only the top five earned a place in the second round of the finals, and the winning trophy, made by Jože Šubic, was only one.
The first place was won by the representative of Spain Olza Olzeta, the second place by the Portuguese Lucerna do Moco and the third place by the representative of Slovenia Eva Kokalj. Eva thus achieved the highest ranking of Slovenian poets in this competition so far.
