Contemporary Dance Platform festival marks its 10th anniversary this year. In its initial editions, the festival went under the name Young Dancers’ Festival but was later renamed to Contemporary Dance Platform. Its concept was and is intentionally very simple. As an association working in the public interest, Plesna Izba Maribor presents a base for many dancers and choreographers. Launching the festival in 2007 emerged out of a very concrete need to present the work of these makers. In the years of working in the area of contemporary dance, we came to realise that a great number of dancers choose to take up studies abroad to become professionals in the field of performance and choreography. We have set up the festival as a platform for these makers. Contemporary Dance Platform is opening up opportunities for exchange and networking in the otherwise non-institutionalised contemporary dance field. At the same time, in September 2016, Plesna Izba Maribor celebrates thirty years of all-year-round education in the field of dance.

16:00    Sebastijan Geč - Kaj tako zijaš? / What are you looking at?

            Center mesta

— Marlene Dietrich

Pozno popoldne prispe Jackie v svoje rojstno mesto.

Idejna zasnova, koreografija in izvedba: Sebastijan Geč
Kostum: Miri Strnad

Sebastijan Geč, rojen v Mariboru, je dokončal privatno plesno akademijo SEAD v Salzburgu. Sodeloval je z Cie. Willi Dorner, Jérômom Belom in s kongoško koreografinjo Elisabeth Bakabambe Tambwe.

I dress for the image. Not for myself, not for the public, not for fashion, not for men.
— Marlene Dietrich

Late in the afternoon Jackie arrives to her birth town. While visiting her cousin she remembers that she had left the keys of her apartment in Belgrade. She decides to take a quiet stroll across her birth town, which she had left long ago, in 1989. The performance is inspired by the sentence: "The ultimative performance is your life."

Created, choreographed and performed by: Sebastijan Geč
Costume: Miri Strnad

Sebastijan Geč, born in Maribor, has graduated from the private dance academy SEAD in Salzburg, Austria. As performer he has worked with Cie. Willi Dorner, Jérôme Bel and, most recently, with the Congolese choreographer Elisabeth Bakabambe Tambwe, presenting her new works Flèche and Las Meninas at the Donau Festival in Austria.             Izbrana festivalska prizorišča

Deseto, okroglo obletnico obstoja Platforme sodobnega plesa bo pospremila fotografska razstava z naslovom "Platforma 10".

Contemporary Dance Platform is celebrating its tenth anniversary with a photo exhibition titled "Platform 10". The exhibition features a selection of images created by photographers who have covered the festival Contemporary Dance Platform since its beginnings in 2007. This retrospective exhibition is like the festival itself – dynamic and fluid, taking place in different locations and different forms.

18:00    Darko Dragičević - Projekcije neuprizorjenega / videoPerforma

             Projecting the unperformed / videoPerforma

             Galerija Media Nox

Izbrana dela:

  • Arhitektura afekta I, II, III

Projecting the unperformed is based on the concept of the observant body in motion-absent or present. It explores visible landscapes and the potentiality of movement-projected future. Simultaneously, it allows bodily presence to mark itself and, by leaving traces, to transform itself into its own score.

Selected works:

  • Architecture of Affect I, II, III
  • Kastell & Taste of Life n.8 (Autechre)

Darko Dragičević lives in Cologne and Berlin and works internationally as a Visual Artist and Filmmaker. He holds a MFA (Hons) in Visual Arts and a BA in Visual Communication from The International College of Arts & Sciences in Milan and a Filmmaking diploma from New York Film Academy, New York City. Dragičević’s focus is in various interdisciplinary projects and his research lies in cross methods within the field of visual arts, performance, film and text.

As a Director he received awards from the Bosifest 7th International Film Festival for and by people with disabilities in Belgrade, 57th International Short Film Festival in Oberhausen and Casa del Cinema in Rome.

Neimenovano

Kaj je to neimenovano? Vesoljca na Zemlji? Komuniciranje? Preko transa in ekstaze poskušava dosegati neimenovano? Je to neimenovano?
Najina gibalna sila? Vir? Je to najin odnos, občutki med nama? So to misli brez besed?
Vedno znova imenujeva, tisto neimenovano, ker tisto neimenovano...ostaja neimenovano...

Nameless

What is it, the nameless? Aliens on Earth? Communication? Trying to grasp the nameless through trance and ecstasy? Is that nameless?
Our moving force? The source? Is it our relation, our shared feelings? Or maybe wordless thoughts? Is it nameless just because we’re not articulated enough?

We keep on naming the nameless. Because the nameless... stays nameless... That’s why we dance, this being the only way to know immortality.

Miza in stoli določajo odnose posameznika do samega sebe, do drugega in vlogo posameznika v skupini. Skozi različne postavitve v prostoru predstavljajo različna vzdušjain okolja, ki določajo nas in naša dejanja. Skupaj s plesalci in glasbeniki ustvarjajo prostor kontemplacije, druženja, sobivanja, dialogov, konfliktov in komunikacije nasploh.

On All Fours

On All Fours is a performance about a table and a few chairs. The table and the chairs define how someone relates to him or herself, towards others as well as define one's role in the group. Depending on how they are positioned in space, they create different atmospheres and situations, which in turn affect us and our actions. Together with the dancers and the musicians, they create a space of contemplation, meeting, coexistence, dialogue and conflict – in other words a space of communication.
